Clinical Observer Internship
Now Accepting Internship Applications!
IHA internships are designed to provide comprehensive insights and hands-on experience in the medical and dental fields.
The program begins with two, 90 minute weekly educational virtual trainings to learn about the Dominican medical system and essential medical knowledge for your upcoming immersion.
The third week marks the transition from virtual to hands-on experience. Upon arrival, you’ll receive an orientation to local customs, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Days 2 to 6 are dedicated to immersive clinic and hospital rotations, where you’ll shadow doctors across various departments, observe medical procedures, engage with local healthcare professionals, and actively participate in hospital activities. Each day concludes with reflective sessions, providing a valuable space for insights and questions.
On the seventh day, interns have the freedom to choose and enjoy different cultural activities, facilitated by our third-party partnership that recommends the best and secure places to explore. Throughout the program, our commitment to security remains paramount. The eighth day marks the conclusion of your internship experience, returning you to the United States with a wealth of knowledge, cultural understanding, and hands-on clinical exposure.
You will gain valuable insights into the Dominican healthcare system, cultural dynamics, and hands-on experience in clinical settings during the 5-day on-site internship. The remote classes in the first two weeks provide a solid foundation for the practical experience in the third week, and they will record it for your comfortability.
