Clinical Observer Internship

Program Overview

Weeks 1-2: Virtual Training

• Two 90-minute weekly educational sessions to prepare you for your immersive clinical experience.
• Learn about the Dominican medical system and key medical knowledge to enhance your rotations.
• All sessions are recorded for your convenience.

Week 3: On-Site Clinical Rotations

Day 1: Orientation

• Receive a comprehensive introduction to local customs, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.

Days 2-6: Specialty Rotations

• Rotate through a variety of medical specialties you choose that can be such as Family Medicine, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Urology, Anesthesiology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, and more.
• Shadow experienced doctors in real clinical settings, observe procedures, and engage with healthcare professionals.
• Immerse in another country hospital setting.
• Actively participate in hospital activities, gaining hands-on exposure to multiple fields in medicine.
• Daily reflective sessions to process your experiences and ask questions.

Day 7: Cultural Exploration

• Enjoy a free day to experience local culture with curated, safe activities.

Day 8: Return Home

• Conclude your internship with a deeper understanding of  the speciality you choose to rotate, helping you make informed decisions about your medical career.
